Tree Fall

A fallen tree off of the Monon trail in Indianapolis. When Covid broke out, I started regularly walking the Monon between 53rd and 86th street. I’d been working out of a now-closed co-working space near 53rd and College Ave. I was trying to get used to walking around with a camera. Having a camera in-hand and trying to find something worth photographing can be awkward and strangely paralyzing. Sometimes you’ll go hours or even days without seeing anything that you really feel inspired to photograph. It’s interesting then to me that so many of the pictures I love are of such mundane things, like this here fallen tree.
Walking long distances on the Monon was a big part of my initial interest in hiking and photography. In Indy, I had been living away from my family and a lot of my friends. These walks really helped me develop a familiarity and more personal connection to the city. Indianapolis is a cool city. I still miss that trail.
